Errors in webpage & seemingly overpriced parts
Recently hit a bicycle part tossed indiscriminately by some dolt into the yard which caused the blade arbor to torque the deck when I ran over it. End result was deck needed to be replaced.
Checking the web page revealed the bare deck was available for $772.00, $80.00 freight and $58.00 sales tax. Total $904.00. Ow! Would still have to transfer the arbors, pulleys etc to the new bare deck.
Added mulching blade would be another $30.00 from local supplier. Seemed excessive for stamped sheet metal so scoured the bushes and found a couple of shops that straighten decks. $125.00 seemed a lot better than nearly a grand.
Still needed to purchase a replacement skirt for the leading edge of the mower deck. Also wanted to order self tapping screws which had corrroded.
First irk occurred with shipping.
Each part displayed with a tag line it was shipped free on webpage but when checking out online, shipping was imposed.
Second irk occurred when each part on the part's breakout page when selected indicated it was no longer available. However you could open another window on TroyBilt's website, enter the part number and it would present a price and if in stock or backordered. Totally hosed up web ordering system.
Third irk was trying to reach the order desk by phone. Following the typical multistep selection process to find a human being, I was left to marinate while listening to music written by tone deaf music haters.
Following the usual 10 to 20 minute on hold waitng for the next available attendant, I was greeted by a very pleasant woman. She politely informed me that free shipping required a $50.00 miniumm order. Nothing on the webpage about that but she did offer to take my verbal order and waive the shipping fee. Fair enough.
The skirt edge was a piece of stamped sheet metal with mounting holes and the screws retain the top safety covers on the mower deck to keep fingers and loose items out of the mower deck pulley system.
Leading edge was a $31.00 item and the screws $3.23 for a bag of six according to the website.
However when placing the order by phone it was revealed the screws were not in a bag, and were $3.23 each.
I politely thanked the attendant for her help, explained given the cost it was time to simply replace the mower, and hung the phone up.
The $31.00 for the skirt was sort of understandable, but six screws at $3.32 each ($19,92 total) was a bit more than what this redneck would tolerate. Time to find another ZTR mower and this time find something better suited for maintainability.
User's recommendation: Buy a product with welded mower deck as opposed stamped metal parts. If you have to high prices for heavily budened repair parts then go ahead and buy a pro product.

My zero turn mower Z54 i had my mower a year in March when I service it and my throttle cable broke and I called troy bilt and the guy said it was covered under warranty
